perhaps then,
it is our drunkness
which keeps us stumbling

A sun soaked soiree.
Heaven and earth, Emmalie and Ben.
A promising day in April, tucked gently away in the Tambourine hinterland.
100 guests gathered on freshly cut lawns; some giving warm hugs under gumtrees and others greeting a curious “Hello…”, to mildly familiar faces.
Emmalie clutched tightly at her best friends hands, all four of them. Stopping to take a breath as she made her way down the drive and through the gully to the beautiful amphitheatre filled with friends and family.
In the centre of it all, stood Ben and on the outer rims, a surprise visit from Emmalie’s ageing grandmother. No day could be more intimate.
Locally sourced, organic flowers; daisies, stalks, and ranunculus framed Emmalie and Ben. A vision of hope, as they recounted memories and made loving promises for the future.
After the ceremony, guests shared wicked smiles and drew oversized pieces of jenga on the lawn. Children dashed this way and that, and edible flowers filled crystal coupes of champagne, shimmering with the last light of day.
And just before all was said and done, the skies broke, heaven met earth and Emmalie and Ben took one more walk for the photographer. The best photos of the day.
And then, the evening took them; a cosy cocktail style dinner, a friend or two tinkering with photography, a moment to share a few words of meaning and home, in bed by midnight.
